Did anybody else just hear? Disney is making a black princess! About time is all I can say.

Yeah, I heard last week. I'm 22 years old and I'm still excited. Ha.
I think they're doing pretty good ... they've got the white princesses, Pocahontas, Jasmine, Mulan. Maybe we still need a Chicana, too. That'd be cool. Woo.

Disney announced that they are going to re-open their traditional animation studios and their first feature will be the Frog Princess set in New Orleans featuring a black princess

i wish i could say its about time..and look at how progressive things are getting...but when i hear its the frog princess...is that really the kinda african american princess debut we want??? i dont care how damn pretty the cartoon is...its called the frog princess..is that the best disney could come up with for us???
i aint too happy at all....id rather no black princess...cos the frog princess is just taking the pi$$!!
i know its a minor thing in the grand scheme of things..but it aint very nice and its kinda upsetting!!

It's set in New Orleans and it's called "The Frog Princess," so she's probably a commoner who gets her title by marrying a Frenchman.

Mulan-Asian
Jasmine-Arab
Belle/Snow Whilte/Cinderella-Caucasion
But yes you're right, there has not been an African American. Well, that is good to hear.

yeah i know.. it was on yahoo news like a week or 2 weeks ago... thanks 4 informing others though, Alicia Keys asked to play the voice of the black princess. but so did Jennifer Hudson, which is white!

From what I've seen so far she's not very pretty though....maybe what I've seen is only a first draft. It's good that finally there is one!
