Philly is nicer. Nicer restaurants, full of history, nicer sports facilities (sports is the topic).
I especially get a kick out of how people portray Philadelphians as mean-all because of a few incidents like Santa Claus. They have more knowledgeable fans than Pittsburgh and as a blue collar town, they like blue collar sports people.

Philly's nicer than where?? Camden???, I don't like the Flyers simply because they're another team from Philly. I lived in Southern NJ for 20 years and got tired of Philly fans bragging how great their teams were and how NY/NJ teams sucked, when there hasn't been a tile in Philly since the 1984 Stars won the USFL title. Lessee in that time NY/NJ teams have won 2 Super Bowls, 4 Stanley Cups(Go Devils), and 5 World Series(yes that includes the 86 Mets). I guess you could say I got a little Philly'd out.

The trogladytic buffoons that used to wear the orange and black in the past lived up to the well deserved reputation as the "broad street bullies".
It was funny to watch them in the playoffs, always losing to teams with talent because fighting in the playoffs is very minimal. The most entertaining part of the games were when the cryers were down by half a dozen goals and then would decide to start throwing punches at the players that were scoring all the goals.
They were real good at "sending a message" and that message was, we suck in the playoffs; but can punch real pretty.
It is a joy to see them wallow in failure this year and let us hope for many years to come.

I know they put the purists world upside down when they won the Cup due to their style of play. I think the establishment worked against them by calling penalties at inopportune times (remember the finals against the Isles?).
But whether that may be true or not pales in comparison to the stubbornness of Ed Snider and his inability to admit that the Broad Street Bullies had their moment in the sun a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time ago. (That was a letter "o" for each year without a cup)

Back in the 1970's and early 80's the Flyers played a dirty game. Bobby Clarke was a dirty hockey player. He used his stick like a sword . Flyer attitude was that everything Bobby Clarke did was right. Clarke never fought his own battles. Dave Schultz and the rest of the Broad Street Bullies fought his battles for him.

I don't hate them; I feel kind of sorry for them. Their past track record isn't so great as far as fair play, but teams don't stay the way they always were, otherwise the Stanley Cup would never change hands, right? I sort of root for the Flyers now that Martin Biron plays for them. I hope his personality and charisma start to spark something in the Flyers dressing room and that your team does much better (but not as well as mine!) in the future.

They were never really that good. Yeah they won cups, but only because it was hard to beat them when you're on your can. They hired a bunch of gorrila's and buffoon's who's only skill was knocking people down. They didn't call them the broadstreet bullies for nothing. They changed hockey, and not for the better, much as the devils have with their booooooring style of play. Thank God for teams like Detroit, Ottawa and Anaheim who have real skills! (although I don't especially like Anaheim).

I'm not a Flyers fan, but I also don't smack talk. I have my favorite team, and so does everyone else. Not everyone on here should be in love with the Flyers. FYI I loved the games against the Penguins, they were the most entertaining, and action filled games of the season.

I don't like them because I am a Ranger fan and the Flyers fans are the worst fans in sports.

They aren't that good. All the years they did well they did by playing dirty and beating on people, not by skill.
They've had very few skilled players.
They are called the "Broad Street Bullies" for a reason.
They physically beat other teams, did not out skill any team.
