It will be good for our economy in the long term.

I think its sad that our politicians refuse to aknowledge it (try asking your state senator or evern US senator about it and they'll claim they know nothing about it). It's economically a terrible idea as well. If you look at the E.U. as an example, you will see that when the Union absorbed Italy, it also had to absorb all its debt with it, which actually stunted the growth of the entire Union. Also, America would be required to absorb the peso, which has a much lower value than the American and Canadian Dollars, which would force the Dollar to decline in value in order to absorb the peso. As far as a superhighway, with everything that is being done to secure the homeland, isnt it a little curious that the administration suddenly wants to create a highway to allow traffiking of God knows what. We already have a huge immigration problem and the last thing we need is to make the border patrols job even harder by allowing unrestricted axcess into the country. We have trade agreements so that we dont have to open our borders to other countries to exchange goods, so why do we need a large highway though "Mexi-Ameri-Canada" for trading? There is an ulterior motive here and it has to do with illegal immigration. How easy would it become for aliens to have axcess to American when there would be thousands of trucks to and from the north and south every day? Not to mention the government obtained land that they would take from citizens for weigh stations, more rest stops, road, and warehousing centers. I just don't understand what part of this is good for America. It benefits Presidente Calderone, but who else? all we would gain is a corrupt country with debt and social unrest.

And PS for those who think it's not real.. here's a government site that admits it

The North American Union is a myth. There is the SPP which is an agreement to a dialouge between the US, Canada and Mexico but there is no talks to forming a N American Union.

The Superhighway will be good for the US. Freeing up the flow of goods between all three countries will benefit us as well as our neighbors. Aiding the economy of our neighbors is always good policy and will benefit us as well. And just think about all the offramps and gas stations those trucks will need to use in the US. That will lead to more taxes paid to the Highway Department.

Remember how benificial Kafta was under Clinton, and what great things Nafta did for us under Bush?
Well, it's the same thing only worse. It's not a myth. It will do nothing good for the economy. It's meant to completely destroy the dollar because there is no more value in it anymore.

I think superhighways in general are disgusting. We should be thinking about cleaner ways to travel, like eco-friendly trains.
