no it is a big Ford commercial. The show gives the judge opportunities to each get their camera time

American Idol is said to be a "singing competition" but they always have something superficially negative to say about a person, when they are really musically fantastic. And when the person is 'star-hollywood-beautiful' its as if they disregard how untalented they really are.
When they do the auditions, they show all the bad ppl, so we can laugh, not to showcase talent. Its just a reality show, that is said to be 'AMERICA'S idol' when the majority votes go based on how the three judges see the singers.

Not as long as Howard Stern has anything to say about it.
I wish the people voting for Sanjaya would understand it must truly be hurting him to see better singers get voted off due to Stern and the others trying to make Idol a joke.. it's just making him feel badly. The poor kid is just 17, leave him be and let him go home to his family. I think voting should be percentage, like Dancing with the Stars ( which is not getting my viewing time this year ). Seems more fair.

Well, being that it's about a bunch of singers singing to try to win a show showcasing singing talents, yes, it's a singing competition. What did you think it was, a cooking competition?

Not really...it's more of a popularity contest.... sad BUT true...too many people stay far too long and the good ones leave too soon....
The votes are very often based on how cute someone is and how much of a groupie following they acquire...
So I never watch any more...
I just wait to see if I ever hear of them after the show....

Not really. Not any more than "America's Next Top Model" is about finding a girl who can get actual modeling work.

well that's what they say it is, but it is a whole lot more than just singing. Why don't they just hold auditions and then give the bests record deal.
