I just had a used 350 put in the truck, the check engine light comes on i ran a scan on it . it showed the throttle positioning sensor was bad! We changed it but still have the same problem, runs fine when it's cold .any help would be greatly welcomed!

If it's what I think it is, it should also take a few cranks to start when hot as well. It's the ECT. (Engine Coolant Temperature) sensor. It usually locks in the cold position which allows the computer control system to start the engine on choke, increasing the injector time for your tbi. As the engine warms up, the sensor sends the signal to the ecu and it leans out the mixture. If the ECT is locked cold, you are effectively running on full choke all the time. Since it is sending a signal, although wrong, the ecu doesn't know the difference and does not trip a code.

How used was the engine?
GM small block V8 engines are notorious for bad cams.
If you have checked all possible vacuum sorces for leaks including the throttle shaft & brake booster, remove the valve covers. Start the engine & have a look at the rocker arms. Should be at least 3/8" of movement in each.

Could it be fuel mixture related. Something similar to vapor lock ?

Hows the plug wires and distr. cap? Both can cause the problem you have.
