About the movie "Carrie"?

I don't understand why her mom tried to kill her- I didn't see the ending, but did Carrie's mom try to kill her? Why? Does Carrie die? Is it because of her mom's first stab?

If you mean the original movie with Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie, then yes, her mother does stab her, but she is already covered in pigs' blood from the prom. Her mother stabs her because she has seen Carrie's telekinesis in action, and believes her daughter is a witch - and being a religious nut job she goes right to the "thou shalt not suffer a witch to live" as justification for murder. Carrie dies from massive blood loss after killing her mother by nailing her up cruciform-style in the kitchen doorway with knives flung telekinetically. As she dies she uses her telekinesis to collapse and sink the house. Given her level of power, if she were in the Marvel universe, she'd probably be a Rank 5 mutant on par with Jean Grey (a'la X3 The Last Stand).
Oh, Carrie's dead alright - four inch stab wounds to the kidneys usually do that. As for a sequel, it's been over twenty years since the original, and King hasn't penned one. Nor, I think, will he. Sometimes the studios use their license rights to produce "sequels" - but in the case of Kings' works such movies, like Return to Salem's Lot and Pet Semetary 2, are just bad ideas all around.

Funny thing about horro movies , unless you see the villain blown up and maybe not even then, you should never use the word die to talk about the ending.

Her mother was a religious freak and she thought Carrie was a whore for going to the prom and possessed coming back from the prom.

There is no telling for certain that Carrie is dead. that allows for the endless sequels like with all the other villains. She moves things with her mind. Any thing is possible.

@Lord Bearclaw of Gryphon Woods actually in the 1976 version and the 2013 version, carrie washes the pigsblood off. then she starts to pray with her mother, not noticing her reaching for a sharp knife. then after getting stabbed in the back by her mother carrie rolls down the stairs. but since shes boss like that, she doesnt die until she later brings her house down with her telekinetic powers.

Her mom tries to kill her because she thinks she is full of sin.. her mom does not stab her. she is covered in blood because of a prank at the prom when they poor blood on her. she uses her powers to fight her mom back and they end up knocking over candles and burns the house down.
