They portray them as people without limbs. They send the message that quadriplegics keep all their things on lower shelves than the rest of us.

The only one I remember is the portrayal of Sephen Hawking on "The Simpsons." He was portrayed as "the smartest man in the world," in a motorized wheelchair and with a robotic voice. I think it was his real voice, it sounded like it. He seemed otherwise like a normal person.
