1) Take the paperwork out of policing.
2) Give authority back to Police Officers so that they command respect.
3) Reform the judiciary so that sentencing power resides with the Judge and not some government direction.
4) Make sentences really, really tough. No more second, third or umpteenth chances for criminals.
5) Reform prisons so that the daily regime is hard and punishing, ie: no more TVs and gym equipment, and also introduce better reform programmes for inmates.

Sorry - I can't count !

1) Health & Safety - H&S is used as a scape goat for SO MUCH. It is really there for minimising risk so you can carry out activities, not as an excuse for banning things.

2) Polictcal Correctness - It is eroding our society and the way we think. EG Councils banning the term Christmas in case it offends non-christians (NOTE - Its the councils not the non-christians who decide its an issue). The needs of the many out way the needs of the few NOT THE OTHER WAY ROUND.

3) Praising stupidity & talentless wannabes (especally through these damn celeb mags) - EG Jade Goody, even after celeb BB is still earning a fortune appearing all over the place saying how sorry she is for being a bully.

I would change the "them and us" attitude that always have defined the British and the class system.

If there were only "us" in society, then maybe the government would be spending more of our tax pounds on "us" the general public (thus justifying our massive tax burden), rather than sending "them" off to Iraq and spending the public monies on a small clique of corporations that is currently the government's definition of "us".

I'd go back to the time before Thatcherism, I'd take all that's good with Socialism & dump the bad, & install that as the beginning of a new system... cos to me, whenever people complain about losing values etc., they are really saying they have had enough of capitalism.

Our tendency not to make a fuss about things we should be up in arms about, for instance, ID cards, why aren't we protesting in the street? Why do we find it so hard to be open about our emotions too? We need to be less uptight while maintaining our sense of proportion.
And while we're at it, replace Balir with Cameron - tee! hee!
