There are certain fish you can and can't eat. Here's a pretty good list I found.
Okay to consume twice a week:
Salmon (except from the Great Lakes), Farmed trout, sardines, Herring, Pilchard, Flounder and sole, Farmed catfish, farmed striped bass, farmed tilapia, Cod, Haddock, Mahi mahi, Perch
Fish you shouldn't consume at all while pregnant are:
Any raw fish or shellfish, swordfish, shark, king mackerel, tilefish (aka golden bass, golden snapper), marlin, bluefish, large and small mouth bass, northern pike, walleye, pickerel, lake whitefish, bowfin, gar, or any toxic species such as pufferfish (pugu), blowfish, and sea squab.
Fish not on either of these lists is said to be safe to consume once a month. Just make sure you cook all of your fish well it shouldn't be pan seared either since that is basically raw. Most of the time your doctor's office should be able to supply a list. I carried the one they gave me around in my purse so that I didn't have to try and recall it every time we went out to eat. Good luck with the pregnancy!

I have read that all fish contain some amount of mercury so I would not eat more than 3 oz. once or twice a week. That's what most of the medical material I have read suggested. Hope you have a happy and healthy baby!

Yes, you can eat fish, but most doctors tell you to limit your intake of *fresh* fish to no more than 6 ounces a week.

Canned tuna and salmon should be fine (so said my doc).

I was told also to stay away from fish with a high chance of having high levels of mercury in their meat - this is fish with dense flesh such as swordfish, tuna, mackerel, and shark.

My doctor said raw fish can be harmful for a baby. but if you are going to eat it, she always told me no more than 6 oz a week, that even includes tuna.

My doctor told me I could eat any kind of fish except Tuna cause it has mercury in it and its not healthy for your baby.

Yes but stay away from "high mercury" fish like salmon. I wouldn't eat it too much but once a week or so should be fine.

Yes, just be careful of certain ones, like tuna and salmon can have some mercury content in them. I would eat those in moderation, but definately still a healthy choice. Broiled haddock filets would be great also.
