I just bought a motorcycle and it doesn't have any oil in it and I have no clue about anything other than riding them.

You can use a 20-50 oil in the summer and a 10-40 in the spring and fall. It holds about 3.5 qts when empty.

I would change your filter and drain the oil before adding oil and running it. You may only think it has no oil and end up overfilling it. To check the oil level, put the bike on the center stand and check the level in the glass window near the bottom of the clutch cover. It should be about half way up the glass.

Order up a owners manual from Kawasaki or you may be able to find one on e-bay. It will come in handy!

if it has not been fired for years please pull the plugs and spray some wd40 or similiar lube in the cylinders the rings may be stuck to the walls and if you let it set for a few days and then push the bike in gear so the motor will turn over and free them.
To answer your question 10/40 will be the weight it should say that on the manufacturers plate or decal stuck on the frame neck the quantity should be there as well if not does it have a sight glass? fill it slowly but it should be about 3.5-4 qts

My window is dark therefore no way of knowing how much oil is in the bike? I had put in 3qts but no change in that window.....I siphoned out 3 qts so as not to have too much in there. Can see about 1" of oil. Is there any to know an accurate amount?
