Try using different software, I use iTunes, and Windows Media Player. iTunes is the easiest, and never has failed to record. What error message do you get?

Have you used a cleaning CD to assure the head is clean in the burner? Also, most burn programs have a test mode. Have you tried a full read/write test before burning? Maybe manually select a slower burn speed. Other possibility is the burner itself is simply going bad. If the motor speed is inconsistent or laser weak, it will fault.

I have had this happen to me. I fixed the problem by slowing down the recording speed. I think I went form 16X to 4X and it worked fine. Hope this helps!! Good luck!
