I have an 8-month old daughter who is very active. We're visiting her grandma next week and my daughter would not be able to sleep in a bed. She moves a lot while she sleeps and often tries to crawl off of the bed when she gets on one. I bought a portable tent, but it's too small and I know she'd go crazy with it zipped, plus it has no padding. A portable crib is a little steep price-wise. Does anyone have any good products or ideas that might work for her week at grandma's???

I would check stores online like Target.com, where users write reviews of the products they buy. It really helped me when choosing things for my baby-to-be.
Most folks will mention whether the item is easy to assemble or easy to carry around. Target did have some "pack-n-plays" that had been praised for the ease of use.
You don't have to take someone else's word for it, but if someone bothered to log in to write the review chances are they really mean what they say, and wish to share their praise or criticism with fellow parents.

Oh and don't rule out second hand stores for good deals on slightly used items. Afterall babies stay small for such short periods of time! Alot of stuff is still in great condition for a bargain price. Just test out it's functional ability in the store before purchasing.

Good Luck!

I bought the evenflo version of the pack n play at wal-mart and love it. It is super easy to set up and take down, and can fit under the seat in the minivan. It comes with a great travel case and folds up so nice. We use it often, and they are even great for home, when I know I will be doing laundry in the baby's room, I put them down for a nap in their portable cribs in another room...keeps baby's sleeping, allows mommy to get work done! And it only cost about $60...VERY WELL WORTH IT!

Pack and Plays are really nice to have. They only run about $100, I know that is a bit steep but they are good for home too. That is the only thing I can think of. sorry.

You can get the portable cribs for about $40 at Walmart and they come in really handy, it's worth the cost. My son didn't stop using his until he was 3 and a half. You will get a lot more use out of it than you think.
