the president is the leader of the country. He/she represents the country as a whole and we vote for that person to become the president. being a president is a big job since you are dealing with the whole country and all the people who are against your country. The president can rule over people and he/she has people who do a lot for him/her. He/she can do themselves but those people do a big job

In most republics, there are two ways of choosing the head of the exectuive branch.

Either the executive branch is independent, and elected by the people, or the executive branch is subordinate to the legislative branch and is elected by the legislative branch. The latter is called a Parliamentary system.
