There maybe racism but does it matter? I don't think there is racism in America anymore. How can there be an all Black TV station? How can there be Black Radio stations on the radio? How can the CEO of Time Warner be Black? How can Condoleeza Rice be anything?
So can you please tell me about Racism in America? or is it just time to take responsibility and achieve?

It sounds like there still is racism but it also sounds like it doesn't matter. There will always be hate but if you can get a job, get a house, go into a building of choice or go into school then it doesn't matter.
Are we just holding on to "Racism" as an excuse?

yes there is still racism in America
A) racism isnt just against black people
for a modern day example, people being put on no-fly lists because they have a Middle Eastern name. thats racism.
I personally think that affirmative action also spreads racism, but I think thats just because Im white and affirmative action doesnt help me. lol

Racism has really been turned into a political term. It gets more coverage on television when it concerns flags, tee shirts, and simple everyday matters. Most of the time it is thrown around lightly and you don't see the down and dirty hate filled racism that many people endured during the civil rights movement although it still exists.
Racism has gotten so much attention that the meaning has been stretched and now anyone can cry foul. Most of the time these days we perceive racism as a visual insult to ones heritage or belief. One hundred years ago the term was never spoken and people had to withstand lots more than visual insult. The thing is in a country that protects everyone's belief you will always have to make room for things that offend others. So in the long run racism will always exist if only to protect everyone's right to free speech.
Don't get me wrong there is still some very hate filled people of all races who set out to do others harm or hold them back. You just don't hear as much about some stories as you do about political ones. When it comes down to the point real racism isn't about a flag or a word some idiot muttered in a club. Its about a more powerful force that keeps a race or creed down in poverty. It is about ignoring issues because the majority of a certain people don't matter so those people can't take responsibility and move on.
Take down the Confederate Flags, outlaw the words, but that still won't give an education to those who need it. It just makes the whole mess look better.
There is still racism. Our country spends most of the time addressing fallen symbols and outdated words. It takes a lot more to look deeper.

There were black movie stars and singers in the 1930s and 40s and even some black millionaires but that didn't mean the actions of Rosa Parks, MLK and Malcom X weren't necessary.
Just because today, there's an all black TV station and Condoleeza Rice is being used by GWB doesn't mean that racism doesn't exist or if it does, it "doesn't matter."
You should educate yourself before pontificating or someone might think you're just another silly ignorant white boy with an attitude and nothing better to do than whine.
Oh, and there is no such thing as "reverse racism." Racism is racism regardless of the skin color or ethnic history of any victim.

Are you a blond, protestant with good grades, lovely family? I'm sorry, I had to ask. Yes, there is racism in America. The newest seems to be against anyone wearing a turban. When we can stop saying black, red, white, and other descriptive words, will be the time to ask yourself if racism is gone, yet. As long as we identify anyone by their color, their religion, or sexual being, there is racism. As long as airports feel the need to check out certain people at airports, and not others, there is racism. As long as policemen stop cars being driven by people of a different color than the neighborhood home owners, there is racism.

I don't think there really is racism towards a certain group anymore in my opinion, some individuals don't like certain people.
I mean some blacks etc hate whites , some mexicans hate puerto ricans etc but not evryone in those caterigories feel the same way.
I believe racism would exist if every one in a certain race all hated another certain race.
That's why get upset when people generalize.
if one day a black man said he hated me i wouldn't say black s are all racist because of this one guy, i hope i'm not confusing you .
Rambling alert! Hope u understood

Yes there is. But racists are in the minority.
The problem is that the "super-racists" tend to be upper class WASPS, they hold alot of the money and power. I USED to work at a hospital residency, doing liscensure and what not for the new doctors. I took my black/puerto rican husband to a company family picnic. That wasn't much fun...
I see it as a blessing in a way though...I wouldnt want to work for them anyways....and somebody has to be interested in the illegeal kickbacks they are receiveing from the drug companys ::snicker::

As a foreigner, I spent nearly a year in the States and was amazed at the racism. Wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen and heard it myself.

Yes, there will always be racism. Whether you think about it or not, everybody favors one nationality over another. There may be less racism than before, but whites are treated better than other nationalities.
