Over the years, especially since the invention of radio and then television, newspapers have slowly changed from an information source for learning, into "infotainment", just like the rest of the "mass media". The change has been subtle. Newspapers had to keep up with it by publishing shorter and shorter editorials, and more and more advertising. Actually, that's what they've become....just another tabloid, under the facade of "News". The incredibly short attention span of modern humans, means most of them can only handle the small "sound bites" and rapid fire editing techniques. Yes, I read the papers, but more and more I am turning to the Internet for multiple sources of information without nearly as much advertising.

I read the news online mostly and watch some on TV. Our local newspaper is "snooze news" -- sometimes I get a Sunday St Louis Post Dispatch or the Decatur ( IL) Herald Review.

Not trying to sound gross, but I read the newspaper if I'm constipated. It pisses me off so bad that it usually does the trick within minutes.

Yes. I like local newspaper's job post. They seem to be more serious than those on-line ads.
