Schistosity is an example of planar feature in metamorphic rocks. They are features due to Regional Metamorphism that force micas and other soft minerals into layered alignments. Despite what another answer implied, primary bedding is not a metamorphic feature, it is a sedimentary feature. In highly deformed metamorphic rocks, primary bedding is usually overwritten and cannot be determined, except in specialized cases such a preservation in cordierite.
