When i say the key is chipped, i mean that i can only start the car with a Fiat key as it has micro-chip in it. It has an immobiliser fitted.And yes of course i noticed when i bought the car!!!!!!
Also, I live in the UK.

Phone a Fiat dealer, a similar key for a Peugeot is £75. Not cheap when you go through main dealers, but I doubt you have a choice, by the way, where is the other key, make sure the seller does not have it, or he may pay you a visit during the night.

if you tape your master key to the steering column or lock (so it's within the required proximitity so it cannot be seen) any non chipped key cut from the master should operate the vehicle. try it first it's a far cheaper option than £75 a time and nobody will know if you dont tell them.

A follow up on my previous answer, all cars come with two keys, try the seller they might just have the spare, good luck.
