It is 8000 meters = 8 km
The abbreviation 'K' means 1000, so 8K = 8000
4.5K = 4500

about 5-1/2 minutes.
or about the time it takes ot eat a brownie and drink a Jack and Coke, which I usually do while running a 8K.
sometimes, just for fun, i will run the entire race backwards, so when I throw up, it hits whoever is behind me full on. Oh, hilarity ensues!
