In this league as it is right now, Yes. There are so many amzing atheletes right now and Kobe has taken games over against the most atheletic players to ever play basketball. He shoots for a low percentage but it isn't abysmal, it's right in line with other players of his ability throughout history. As for the best five ever, you could make an argument for him, but i would have to say no, not yet. There are too many players that did it for too many years to put him in their class YET, maybe one day, but not now. And my roomate made a valid point. Kobe became Kobe a full 10 years ago and there are no signs of slowing down, in fact if anything, he is just getting better.

Kobe is not only the best player in the NBA right now.. he is one of the top NBA players in NBA history. He is the greatest player after the "jordan era" in the 90's to play the game, i mean he scores 65 points and puts on some of the greatest performances in sports. If you dont enjoy Kobe Bryant and do not consider him the top player in basketball by miles and miles, then you have to look at what he does and how he does it. Kobe plays the best with the least and he will still many more championships, its just a matter of time and he has it.

Of all time... very close call: Jordan, Wilt and Shaq are definitely better as of now--Kobe may be up there. He is ABSOLUTELY the best player in the NBA today. Some people don't like his personality but you have to give him his credit.
