I have a WD 80gb hard drive and want to hook it up (via lan) to my wireless router, so a wireless pc can access it.

Yeah, I could. But then the wired computer would have to be on all the time, which is not ideal.

There are multiple devices on the market that will allow you to connect a USB device to either a wireless router or another network-attached storage (NAS) device. In order to use a hard drive with your network, you will probably need to purchase a new router or a NAS device with USB ports. Either of these devices will have directions to follow to share the hard drive and contents. If you would be able to copy the data to a NAS hard drive, that would not require a USB hard drive enclosure. The Buffalo Linkstation is one example of a device.
