I bought a useed Fiat Punto today and the key that came with it is broken and i cannot use a key chain with it. Does anyone know if there is something i can buy that will cover the end so i can keep it a bit safer. Also, does anyone know how much another key would cost? (It's a chipped key)

Couple bucks to make a copy, but try it out on all the doors, trunk, and ignition before you leave the store. Lowes, home Depot, any hardware store, k-mart...

Key covers are available which cover the top of keys, the are made in different colours of plastic, with a tight fit mainly for key identification and they have a hole in the top for key rings, try a shop that does key cutting, or a general hardware store

Take it to a local jewellers and see if they could solder a ring on the top of the key for you as a temperary security measure.I had a chipped key cut for a ford focus a year or so ago and it cost me £80.My mate hate one done for his Mercedes and that cost him £140.Both our cars had to go to the Main dealer so they program the key to the car.Not sure with your Fiat though.They might just be able to cut you one.Give them a call.

The supply, cutting and programming of a Smart key was around 100 quid + VAT.

I'd try superglueing something to the end of the key you have...

timpsons offer a key cutting and coding service for some makes. the one for my calibra with a chip in was £25 (or would have been), and probably some others do too. it depends. citroen keys are a dealer only thing. best thing to do is take it in and see what they can do

A chipped key will have to be authorised by the auto shop and programmed. Cost ??

Take it to Wal-Mart (or any other hardware store) they can make a brand new copy of the key.

You need a spare key anyhow, so get it copied and keep the broken one for the spare.
