I would get rid of them by the methods that have been advised above. Although ants are not generally a pest, but if they bite I would definitely get rid of them before I plant. Ants can be the shepherds for garden pests such as scale and scale is very difficult to control. They may not kill the plants but they make them look pretty bad and could eventually spread to other parts of your garden.

While you are doing your planting get some boric acid ( same compound in most eywashes). scrap the hill with your trowel or shovel and spread the white powder around the hill. Admittedly some will die, however, most will live to rebuild the hill. Do your planting and watch for their activity. If they are a biting variety you need to eliminate them. That can wait for another day.

Put down some Seven dust. Doesn't hurt plants and the ants move elsewhere.

Surround the nest with ant powder... preferably the stuff that they take back to their Queen. It'll sort out the nest.

They will keep bugs down, leave them alone. Just work around them if they are a small variety. Use poison if big red ants, they bite and hurt plus kill out plants around their bed.

I've poured a kettle of boiling water over the hill. Same when I see a trail headed into my house.

They will not harm your flowers. Ants are generally good guys.
Let them be.
Spiders too.
