computer audio problem?

please help... i have rebuilt alot of computers but today` i spent 9 hours trying to get the audio working and still cannot.. been through device manager... no conflicts ie all drivers and hardware working but still no sound. any experts out there who can help i would love to talk to you via either jajah...skype...yahoo messenger... or email... in that order of preference.... many thanks Russell

Hi, I had an old computer with the same problem.
I eventually found that windows update (automatic) had updated the driver of the sound card and after restarting no sound came from the speakers.
I'm sorry but i can't remember the exact sound card involved.
However you can access the driver through device manager and roll back the driver to an earlier version.
Then go to windows update and hide the update so that windows wont download it again.
Hope this works for you, It did for me.
