No if you are driving but you need a valid photo ID and your birth certificate. If you are flying you need a passport.

I think you do now. In the past you may not have needed one to cross into Mexico or Canada, but a state-issued driver's license would have worked. If you are planning a trip to Mexico or Canada today, you should go ahead and get a US passport. Some Post Offices will take passport applications, but usually only during certain hours. You do not need a passport to enter the US from Mexico by land. That deadline has been extended. A photo ID and a certified birth certificate is sufficient.

Currently, you must have a passport to fly into Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean, and back into the US.
By June 2009, we are expected to have passports in order to drive or walk into Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and back again.

in case you walk, glide, orpersistent in the course of the border you do not favor a passport at the moment. feels like the hot guidelines gained't move effect till mid-summer season of 2008. in case you FLY into Mexico you'll favor your passport. strong success!!

You probably don't need one to come to mexico but if you don't want to know what it feels like to be illegal....take it with you! by the way...be careful with those minutemen guys if you don't have your passport ha ha ha!!

yes as of now with the currrent law all US Citizen wanting to go into any country need a passport

Yes, due to our moslem terrorists (or as Bush pronounces them 'tourists') you NEED a passport with you whenever you leave USA and especially when you want to re-enter the USA
