Greg Oden is all they really have to hang a hat on.
The rest of the squad sucks and ruined my brackets. I think this link pretty much descibes their play.

The big 10 as a league is somwhat overrated and very vulnerable. If you look at what their geographical rival the Missouri Valley conference did to them this year you can see that the big ten is not all it is cracked up to be. Partly because the MVC is such a good mid-major conference but partly too because the big ten is not as good as the top two teams in Ohio St and Wisconsin might suggest. Illinois was given a tournament bid that they clearly didn't deserve and even though Purdue won their game against a very suspect Arizona team (another team given a gift) Purdue was gifted with an undeservedly high seed. Ohio St is a great team, don't think that they aren't, but they have also had the benefit of playing in the big ten, but Xavier is also a very good mid-major program and I think they showed just what can happen when a good mid-major and a good power conference team get together. It is not like the 80's anymore when the power conferences totally ruled the day, which is why some of these teams like Xavier, Southern Illinois Creighton, VCU, Nevada, etc. have such a hard time getting power conference schools to play them in the regular season. The ACC's, Big Ten's ,SEC's, ACC's and PAC 10's are all desperately trying to hold on to their unrivaled spots at the top of the game and don't want to lose some of their notoriety, and money to the mids.

I don't think it's so much as them being overrated, because they showed how good they are when Oden is out and they were still able to make a run to win the game. I think it's the fact they ran into a Xavier team with a personal vendetta against the Buckeyes....and no matter how talented you are that's tough to come up against.
It's similar phenomenon that occurs when Louisville and Kentucky play. They're in state rivals and no matter what the rank/schedule results of each team, it's ALWAYS a game unto itself. Kentucky beat Louisville in 1986 when Louisville won the National Championship. Louisville beat the Kentucky's 1998 National Championship team in Rupp Arena. And I've also seen how heated the rivalry has gotten since Pitino went to Louisville, after leaving Kentucky (and a brief NBA stay in between). That game is crazy every season and the situation just adds fuel to the fire.
Xavier was looking to beat Ohio State because of the circumstances with Thad Matta leaving Xavier for OSU. And they're in-state rivals who didn't play each other in the regular season. Xavier wanted a piece of Ohio State and gave them a run for their money. But I think Ohio State's comeback at the end of regulation and in OT shows just how good they can be in any situation. They never gave up.

Overrated for sure! They are good definitely not close to a No. 1-caliber team. They played in a conference that was not nearly as deep as the ACC, Pac-10, SEC or Big 12 (and maybe not even Conference USA). Their biggest non-conference games? A blowout loss to Florida and a loss to North Carolina not nearly as close as the score indicates. I think the controversial win over Xavier will be their last of the season. You can talk smack to me if they win the next game but you know they are largely unproven against quality competition.

Come on..Thirty plus wins in a very good conference..They are not overrated. You let one game change your mind...Xavier is a good team and had a chip on its shoulder because Ohio St refuses to play them regularly..There style makes them not a glamour team, but not overrated.

No. Ohio State is a team that finds ways to win...Kind of like when New England Patriots always find ways at the end...Good teams will find a way.Today one of their nine lives was used.

Lots of teams get overrated. Team ratings and TV ratings go hand-in-hand.
Do you think a team that couldn't draw viewers would ever get a #1 ranking?

I got them going to the final four because after that ridiculously close game, ithink they will be concentrated and ready to win and prove that last game is not who the Buckeyes are, they are a much better team.

no i dont think they are overrated. yes i think they will be in the finals. on the other hand it is disgusting to me that greg oden doesnt touch the ball every single possession. that doesnt mean he has to shoot it but get him touches. if they used him intelligently i dont think anyone could dissagree that they are clearly the best team. oden averages under 10 fga per game and thats ridiculous.
