in my town, there is this new school opening. its a private school, and it sounds really cool. we sorta know the person whos opening it. i live in a SUPER small town (it doesnt even show up on the weather forecast). i dont have any friends going. i dont know what i should do. the public school isnt challenging enough, and my parents and i are unhappy with it but i dont know anybody at the new school. there will probably only be less then 10 people in my grade at the new one, and i know they are all going with friends. i already know what all of them are like, and i dont really want to be friends with them ether. i want the new school oppurtunity, but i want my friends. a lot of the activities at the new school involve partners and stuff, and if noone comes, i wont have one. i am very shy and bad at making friends. what should i do?

Change is hard, but you're obviously a very smart person and if you're not getting what you need out of your current school you need to think about your future plans and take the plunge. Maybe once you get to know the other students you'll realize they're not so bad. You can still keep your old friends too. That's my opinion, but you have to go with you heart and gut feeling. Good luck to you!

Hmm that really is a tough decision. Personally, i think that the private/new school would be better. Even though you wont have any friends with you, there is always the possibility you can make new ones. You never know what could happen when spending so much time there with other people. You can always see your other friends outside of school anyways. Choosing the right school could impact your future more than what friends you have now. Besides, school is only for a few years anyways right?

I think you should take this oppertunity, theres no use learning things that aren't challanging and if you live in a SUPER small town, you should be able to see your friends all the time

as another shy person who finds it hard to make friends i remember going into secondary school(high school in US) i was offered the oppertunity to go to a private school but turned it down to go with my friends to public school.I too found it unchallaging but continued on and now do 2 subjects outside of school and enjoy time with my friends. If you find school unchallanging try exploring your favourite subjects on the internet and see what you find.

Is there anyway you can atten this new school while still keeping your old friends and hanging out with them. Since you may be uncomfortable at this new school you will have to make friends. You'll have to overcome your shyness. Talk to them.
