P2P requires a very large number of connections that are very active. You are probably running into the maximum number of connections possible for Windows 98 which is causing your networking to crash.

I suggest changing to an operating system that is a little more stable like Windows 2000 (since your older computer probably won't run XP very well) or some flavor of Linux.

Oh, and yes. You need to clean some of that old junk off of your hard drive -- or buy a new, larger hard drive.

Good Luck,

There is a possibility that your computer would be stopping the download if you don't have much space left on the hard driver, but it's more likely that the data load the shareaza or bit comet are taking up is too much for the DSL. If you are using a service such as Bellsouth or another nationwide DSL provider, chances are this is the case, since their DSL is on the lower side of the speed spectrum. If you are using local DSL, then it's probably the fact that they could be blocking the download (considering it is illegal and all).

A full disc would definitely do it.
