The prices fall (sometimes go up) a little on a monthly basis. there is a rumor of major price cut in the 3rd quarter of the year but Intel is not confirming or denying it.

Intel's Public Relations Manager Dan Snyder said: "I cannot confirm nor deny any price cuts, but price cuts are a normal part of this industry."

I doubt they will drop for a while.

They haven't come out with a line of CPU's to replace them yet. Quad Cores are pretty much still in the works but not really on the market as yet.

I've seen individual online stores offer them at $10 or $20 cheaper than other stores but no price drop at the manufacturing level yet (Intel) that I'm aware of.

Keep hoping. They will come down sooner or later, but something new will have a different foot print and you'll need a new MoBo, new RAM, etc. etc., etc. That's how things typically go.

Good luck.
