The difficulty is the cost. The NASA budget is limited, and there are lots of other missions that are important to complete. They do not have enough funding to do everything they would like to. If we weren't spending billions upon billions of dollars every year to fight a meaningless war in Iraq, we would have enough money to send astronauts to the moon, mars and make a permanent moon base.

Rockets don't fly on gas, but on liquid hydrogen and oxygen (and the boosters on solid fuel).
And going to the moon "again" implies you believe US astronauts went there in the first place. Did they really go or did they fake it ? Coz if they did go and planted the US flag, doesn't that make the moon US territory, and the Chinese going now, trespassing ? Shouldn't you sue them ? Or better yet, nuke them ? The moon belongs to the moonies. And guess who's one of them ?
Now seriously ... there's no oil on the moon, that's the reason they didn't go again. Another thing, there's no atmosphere for the Humvees to pollute. So no profit ... yet.

We went seven times in the 60's and 70's. People lost interest, and NASA redicted their money and effort to the shuttles, so now we have to rebuild the technology to go back to the moon.

China will most likely beat us - they were aiming for a moon landing in 2018. We'll be going back around 2020.

When they went to the moon, gas was thirty cents a gallon. Have you checked the price of rocket fuel lately?

We will go to the moon when there is a profit to be made by doing so.

we will go to the moon again when we can gain either an economic or a military advantage. Until such time, it is cost prohibitive.

likely no longer. it really is already been executed, analyze has been performed, and so on. it really is an quite extreme priced ordeal, and now that it really is been done, i imagine few if any international locations ought to opt to finance yet another holiday. they could somewhat spend that money on different issues. So yeah.
