It means the person who's ultimately using the product. That is the "end" user.
For example:
A supplier makes computer parts. The end user is NOT the computer company, it's the computer consumer.
A fabric company weaves fabric to cover couches. The end user is NOT the couch company, it is the couch potato that watches TV while sitting on that fabric.
etc. etc.-- it's all context- dependent.
If it's SOFTWARE you're dealing with, you're probably talking about the human that uses the software in the end, the person who's buying that software off the shelf, not the multiple middlemen that buy the product to sell it to the consumer.
The end user = consumer.

When software is thought up/developed/marketed and more, it goes through a LOT of steps and phases. But at the VERY end of the road for software comes the user.
Since the user is at the "End" of the road in a softwares life, the user that uses it is called the "End User".
Hope that helps.

It means the person using the computer or program. I work for a technical support centre for HP and end-users are the people who use our products or any other company's software.
They are the consumers.

The "end user" is just what the name implies. The person or business that is the final "end user" of a product or service.
They are not the manufacturer, wholesaler, or retailer of the product or service. They are the retail buyer.

Not the designer, not the manufacturer, the people that actually purchase and use the product. Ie: "end user".

The retail purchaser who will actually use the product.
Here is a question for your class.
