Some insurance companies will pay for the surgery. You have to check your particular policy. You may find if it does cover it it is for those who have developed comorbidities (other illness caused by obesity.) The last person I know who had the surgery is now paralyzed. It is not risk free.

I am having the lap band surgery as soon as I lose another 10 lbs. Most Dr's make you lose 10% of your weight before you can get the surgery. I have a few weight related health problems like sleep apnea and severe arthritis. I have Kaiser and they are paying 100% for the surgery.I am having the lap band surgery as soon as I lose another 10 lbs. Most Dr's make you lose 10% of your weight before you can get the surgery. I know allot of people who had the gastric bypass I only know one other person who got the lap band and she loved the results.
