Wet tail is more a condition of rodents, as you probably know - but it's a general name for any illness that causes diarrhoea, so yes i spose you could say rabbits can get it. Small animals die quickly from diarrhoea as they have fast metabolisms (particularly rabbits) and dehydrate quickly.

The biggest danger for a rabbit with diarrhoea however is fly strike - flies will be attracted to the poo and lay their eggs on the bunny. The eggs will hatch into maggots which will, unfortunately, eat the rabbit alive. All this can occur in just a few hours!

Either way - if your rabbit has diarrhoea - take him to the vet, and fast, because rabbits die from illnesses generally much quicker than we, or cats and dogs do. They have a fast metabolism, so they do everything quicker.

Wet Tail In Rabbits

Rabbits suffering from Wet Tail often die from dehydration rather than from Wet Tail itself, or they simply refuse to eat or drink. Also, because of the severe diarrhea, Wet Tail can lead to rectal prolapse where the intestine is pushed outside the body through the anus. It is possible for a Vet to place the intestine back inside the body but if the intestine is damaged or if the diarrhea continues to be severe this is often unsuccessful.

Therefore it is vital that veterinary treatment is sought immediately if a rabbit shows symptoms of Wet Tail. Do not rely on over-the-counter products to treat Wet Tail.
