How do I setup a network for file sharing and whatnot between my home network and a friends home network..What software would I need (Free would be best) and how do I make sure it's secure. I dont have 1 computer set up as a server yet, but Im sure I can use my wired desktop for this..Please Help

We both have cable internet, we both are using routers 1 wireless microsoft (me) and 1 wired linksys (them) they are about 60 miles away

The easiest way to share files over a distance when both have cable (high speed) connections, is to simply set up a server program on each and denote which files to share. My site below under Server Talk will get you headed in the right direction. PS you will be reading the files right off the computer that sits next to me, so you can see how well this set up works, first hand. Hope this helps

There are many different ways to do this, but more information is needed. What is the distance between the two computers? What is the budget you have to work with? Do both places have high speed internet?
