to stop having gone round a sharp bend, and then fail to start againl. Had the breakdown service out and they said it was the fuel cutoff switch but apparently this model does not have one so any other suggestions please? My friend is still stranded in the middle of nowhere !

Hi

The fuel cut off will be built into the fuel pump relay. It has to have one to cut off the fuel supply in an accident otherwise if any fuel lines break then the fuel pump will continue to squirt fuel everywhere.

Get someone to check the fuse box which is where, if I'm not mistaken, the relays are also located. It may just be a case of pushing the relay(s) back into place.

Cheers

I just gave you a load of useful info.

1) You may want to check the relays in the fuse box especially the fuel pump one as they are positioned in such a way that they can shake loose if you hit a severe bump. (The main fuse box is to the right side of steering wheel... follow it around to the edge... just opposite driver's door is a panel.. flick it open to get to fuse box. There is also usually another fuse box area in a box above the car battery).

2) Get him to check his boost pipe isn't loose. (i suspect it will be this)

You may not have a fuel cut off switch, but you will have a fuel pump.which should have been checked first.
"The breakdown service" you called out????I hope you did'nt

itll be the electrical plug which goes from teh ignition/column controls into the wiring loom...its probably moved just enough to break the contact.. and sit their laughing at the futile attempts to fix a fine example of german engineering...

if your friends are stil in the field strip away the column nacelle / shroud and push all teh plugs...

it could also be a broken wire.. get teh rac to recover your mate..
