Should I reload windows? Is there some program mucking up my drive?

Note the free disk space obviously only 4 Gb now.
Probably you have not cleaned up your computer of unneeded files.
Simple way :
Ccleaner from http://www.filehippo.com
AWC2 Personal from http://iobit.com.In you C:/ drive the ratio of full disk space and free space can be 60/40%.
2. Also try this Little advanced :
C: Properties . Disk Cleanup.
Then: more options
Delete System Restore files. could be about 1 GHz TO 2 Ghz of disk space recovered.
MORE Advanced :

.C:/Windows
( earlier Explorer/Folder Options/ Show hidden files )
a. copy all $ uninstall ***** files to another directory.
Copy to a cd and then delete from hard disk. . ( Just in case you need them ).
Your computer will work faster.


b. C:/Windows/Prefetch
Open the folder select all and delete.
retain the folder.

1. Delete unnecessary files, including all the old System Restore Files you can find. McAfee and other PC Tools can help you with this. This will also free up those deleted files, instead of just marking it for deletion.
2. Defragment your drive, and if you want to reinstall Windows, I'd change your partitions, if you have any...
3. ** OR Begin with some system tools from Ashampoo... Like the Magical Defrag... It works non-stop in the backgound to keep your disk defragged...

how big is it to start with?

do you download movies or burn films and it has used u disk space for temp files?
