This is not likely. Patrick was born in Roman Britain. When he was about sixteen he was captured by Irish raiders and taken as a slave to Ireland, where he lived for six years before escaping and returning to his family. He entered the church, as his father and grandfather had before him, becoming a deacon and a bishop. He later returned to Ireland as a missionary, working in the north and west of the island, but little is known about the places where he actually worked and no link can be made with Patrick and any church. By the eighth century he had become the patron saint of Ireland, mostly owing to clever propaganda by the monastery of Armagh which claimed to hold his relics. The Irish monastery system evolved after the time of Patrick and the Irish church did not develop the diocesan model that Patrick and the other early missionaries had tried to establish.

Oh my God so many people are wrong;
St. Patrick was born and lived on the West cost of Wales. He was born into a very wealthy family, his father was very powerful! At the age of 12 he was kidnapped by Irish pirates, he was brought to Ireland and was sold as a slave. He worked with sheep on a mountain in county Antrim/Carlow. One night when asleep he had a vision of Gog telling him to escape the following night.
He left the mt. the following night as "told" and stowed onto a ship leaving for Wales. When he got home he had another vision to become a priest and to convert Irish people to Christianity.
He became a priest and returned to Ireland he travelled the country converting the people to Christianity. He lived the rest of his life in ireland and died there.
Born in Wales but lived all his life in Ireland.
he is Irish!

St. Patrick was reputed to be alive in the 4th Century which was 13 centuries prior the formation of America. So, even if he had been black, which he was not, he would certainly not have been African-American. African-Irish, perhaps?
