Are there any tricks or anything that will give me a little bit of an advantage, or are there any things the testers usually like to see?

I'm taking my test in California. I don't know if that makes a difference or anything though haha.

First of all, I want to wish you the best. As a resident of Los Angeles for 10 years, I can tell you driving in that town is a MIGRAINE HEADACHE! However, as a new driver, you want to make sure that you do everything right - 1) check your rear view mirror for positioning as well as side. Make sure YOU BUCKLE UP!!! No radio or tape or CD! Make sure your brakes are not up, before you pull out into the street - pray. Look up - rear view - side view all the time. Keep your eyes on the road - limit your conversation to what the officer tells you to do. Some of them won't even make you parallel park - but if you do get one that does - make sure you observe all road rules - you want to look around you constantly for pedestrians (cause they will walk into the street and just about DARE you to hit them) Where I live - they will get hit! Observe the road signs - if it says 10 mpr - then don't do 12. I know some officers who are so sticky about that. Usually, you will find that when they shoot those radars at you - if you are going 37 in a 35, they won't stop you - but you WON'T KNOW THAT...so observe signs. And then - friend - when he tells you - you PASSED- SHOUT HALLELUAH!!!!! lol

A word of wisdom - don't ever drink and drive. Don't ever do drugs and drive and DON'T EVER ALLOW ANYONE IN YOUR VEHICLE THAT YOU MIGHT EVEN SUSPECT has drugs or a weapon on them - I KNOW FOR A FACT - YOU...YES Y-O-U can go to jail for an offense that you didn't commit - just because you have someone in the vehicle with you who is guilty. Always carry your license and if you do get a ticket - PAY PROMPTLY!!!! I have been to once too often, for not paying a simple ticket and had to come out of my pocket $350 upwards! If you wear glasses - make sure you have them on. Don't be nervous - take a deep breath and do what you do.

I will give you some advice that should help you no matter what test you are going to take.

First--RELAX.
Second--If your instructor has decided that you are ready to take the test, then you are ready.
Third--Study
Lastly--RELAX
