Just go into the control panel, click mice and other hardware, and change your mouse sensitivity.

OMG! I was just thinking of posting a similar question 2 days ago, being an unfortunate owner of a compaq notebook myself!

I got to talk to some 'funky' sounding customer rep. from the 1800 HP helpline, and it seems theres just nothing you can do about it. According to her you need to get in touch with your local HP service centre, who'll in turn ask you to deposit your notebook with them, so they can "see" what they can do about it. Which means you'll have to be without your geek-box for a couple of days!

Oh BTW, if you have a button right above the touchpad, just turn it off while typing, it helps!

You can go to control panel, and then click on Mouse (You have to be in classic view of control panel) then click on the Pointer Option tab and select the pointer speed....!!

Perhaps you are putting to much pressure on the keypad. Just move it around slowly, you will get used to in a couple of hours. You may buy an USB mouse if that helps.
