The only thing I can suggest that could help a little is put those high end filters in your air conditioning system about $10, made by 3M, Arm and Hammer, and other companies. They will trap allot of the fur and dander from the pets, but instead of changing them every three months, you might have to do it monthly. This will cut down somewhat on dusting. I've cleaner professionally for over 20 years, it's the price of doing business when you have pets, and I do, so I should know. I clean buildings every night, and even the offices that aren't used get dust in them overtime, so five days, well that' s about right. Carpeting, nah, it would just be in the carpet. Enjoy your pets, your home. Chow

Old house..You will find a lot of dust is coming from under the base boards..The only way to reduce the dust is to neatly caulk the joint between the base boards and the floor..Warm air heat.???If the installer used bays between the floor joists for a cold air return this too will add to your quandary..This is too complicated to remedy via this medium..Don't throw out the animals. You could vacuum them occasionally too.I have a very tolerant p ussy cat but will not have any part of being attacked with a vacuum. No sense of humor..

Replace you air filters more often (if you have forced air). Carpeting wouldn't help. Diligent cleaning is probably your best bet. When I lived in Wyoming the dust was so bad that you could clean and 1 hour later write your name in the dust. You might look into some air purification systems. There are many offered on the internet...type in air purifiers. You won't find one magic bullet, it'll take several measures. Good luck.

dust can be from anything. alot of movement can increase the amount of it, and it won't be from just the pets. Carpet may be better as the dust is less obvious. Dust stands out alot on wood flooring as it is a smooth surface.

Try leaving your windows open so your house isn't so enclosed and the dust can get out.
