I have a very strange problem...I'm 30 and my brother is 37--I love him and we get along, but I feel that he calls me on the phone way too much. We live about 5 hours away, and he recently got his first cellphone, and he calls me about every 4 days--plus he calls every weekend without fail. I love my brother--but I am getting very annoyed by him! He calls and drones on & on about his church, how he wants a wife, his job--whatever, and he'll talk for hours if I dont stop him..I work full time- and I'm busting my butt trying to start a business, and I dont want to spend my free time talking to him every 3 days or every weekend!.. I TOLD him this, but he got upset saying "we're still family!--and he still keeps calling.
I've started not even answering his calls anymore--but now our Mom is upset with me --and demands that I talk to him when he calls and tells me "call your brother"!!
HOW OFTEN DO YOU SPEAK TO YOUR SIBLINGS OF THE OPPOSITE SEX? AM I WRONG?

well i think you are wrong, my brothers call me every day sometime twice a day and i answer there calls anytime they call, you should be great full that you have a brother that call you to tell you about his life, he regard you that is why he use to call you to share is problem with you. please be you brother keeper no mater what you are doing and he call you please talk to him fine, where he need advice give to him it will help him.
I speak to my siblings of the opposite sex any time i feel like or he want to talk to me. I love to speak to them every minute.

You are very wrong and slightly selfish. For whatever reason your brother is needing you even if it is just for the sound of a friendly voice. My husband talks with his sister almost daily maybe not for that long but they talk all the time and sometimes even go out for dinner just the two of them. if anything I would wonder why it is you are not wanting a close relationship with your brother. You may not regret it today or even tomorrow but one day something will happen and you wish for the sound of his annoying voice. Whether he gets tired of you or passes away. You need to repriortise your life ASAP and realize how important family is.

maybe it's the way you worded it. instead of saying I don't want to talk to you 3 times a day maybe you should have worded something like "Man, you call me so much I am running out of things to say, maybe we should cut down talking on the phone with each other to like once every 2 weeks, that way I will have stuff to talk about."
As for how much I talk to my siblings of the opposite...I don't...but that's because I don't have any sisters. As for my brothers, it depends on which one you are talking about. I have I talk to every other day, one every few months, and the other I see every week or so.

be grateful you have a brother who loves you....how would you feel if he died suddenly and then you would never be able to talk to him...
although having said that ...if he calls and all he talks about is himself in a complaining way...talk to him and tell him life does not evolve around him and if he is going to call you this much he has to prepare to listen once in awhile.. also tell him that you are very busy, not too busy to talk to him but busy and must limit your time on the phone so you can get your other work done... maybe you can invite him for the weekend to help you and that way you can have some time together and he can help you with your busy schedule.. be kind... and loving,,,, he is your family and that is to be cherished not taken for granted..

I would speak to my brother every day if I could.
He lives in another state but he is alot older than me and he and his wife did so much for me after our mother died when I was 12.
He is an ENT surgeon and has a very busy life. He is my inspiration.
I feel extremely blessed to have him.
I guess your situation is different but my family means so much to me.

I used to talk to my sister every day when I was living in Puerto Rico. You should talk to your brother and listen to him because it seems that he's alone and has no one to talk to about his life, church, wife and other things to anyone but his sister. Besides it's not like he's calling you every day. He calls you every four days.

Did not read the whole issue but I call my sister all the time when I am bored, so whatever if see doen't want to talk she tells me that simple.

my brother is 25 and im 28 he phones me at least 5 times a day and it gets on my nerves to i have told him this byt he still phones all of the time just tell your brother to phone twice a week or put up with it like me

Don't answer the phone everytime he calls, then e-mail him and tell him that it's easier for you to check and respond to e-mail than being on the phone so much.
