Personally, I don't think America is ready for either one. As much as I'd like to believe we've made progress, it's still a redneck world in many ways.

This is not the first time a black man or a woman have run. Alan Keyes, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Elizabeth Dole, etc.

Why do you think it is suspicious now?

BTW Gen Powell could be the first black president any time he wants. Anyone who actually know politics is aware of this. Both parties have courted his nomination. It is hard to say America is not ready.

Also, when someone makes a crazy @$$ statement like women outnumber men 2-1 just give them a thumbs down. I can't stand people who give false stats.

It's not a coincidence. Several months ago a general poll was taken that determined that a black man is less likely to win an election than a white woman.

Why do you think Clinton waited until it was obvious that a black man is getting popular before announcing her candidacy?

lOl.
I've been thinking and discussing the same thing for the last few days with family/friends.
I can't honestly tell you why, but I believe the Democratic National Party conspired to have Bush win this last election.
I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE THINKING. WHY?
I don't know. What I do know is that going into the election most voters had in mind, "ANYONE BUT BUSH", right? So it should have been a slam dunk election.
Here's the problem. They pick Kerry to run. Don't get me wrong, I like Kerry. However, he was VERY open on his tax views. And the moment he stated in a MAJOR national press conference that he would be raising taxes on businesses, he lost the election. That screws businesses and employees. I work in the tech sector..I'm sick of seeing my job shipped overseas. But when you jack up the taxes on my employer, guess what they do with more and more jobs? Ship them over seas.
SO......
Now, the two primaries for the Democratic Party are a black man and a woman.
How can anyone deny that this is a conspiracy?
Sorry to say, but if Clinton or Obama are picked as the democratic runner, then the republicans WILL win again.
However, my grandfather made a STUNNING point yesterday as we discussed this. He said that if Hillary is picked or Obama is picked the only thing they would have to do to win is pick the other one as the vice president.
That would get out the "black" vote and the "female" votes. And since women outnumber men 2 to 1 in this country it would be a HUGE win for the demos. But if they pick a white man for vice pres, you can forget it.
A lot to think about here.

Good questions.

I think it is a coincedence. Also, saying America isn't ready for a black president is rascist.

I think it has to do with the fact that Democrats believe that blacks and women are equal. Apparently the Repugs havent come to that realization yet.

I think it is fantastic. Unfortunately, they are running on the same side. I have the feeling that no matter who wins, the republicans will get their white man to win over all. Bummer. I would really like to see a woman or a black man win. Or better yet, how about a black woman?

I just think it's TIME. Even if neither win, the idea itself is revolutionary. It's a HUGE step forward.

Pure coincidence.

It is a "unique" coincidence.

Let's elect hillary and let another clinton make a joke out of the whitehouse.
