It shouldn't do that with the data cable, but if you forced the power connection in the wrong way you could have fried the hard drive itself, you could have blown a fuse but that's not likely except maybe internal to the power supply.

Sorry to say you just toasted your harddrive, and possible your mother board and power supply......
There are no fuses on motherboards but are ones in power supplies. To test power supply unhook Harddrives all and try to boot up.
If it boot up with harddrive missing error the your pc ok , but if no power up at all then power supply fuse is blown.
If power sounds and then nothing you entire system is blown up .

That swap instruments the flexibility furnish for one hundred and ten volts or 220 volts. in case you position it incorrect the flexibility furnish blows. it really is low-cost to replace, even if, below $one hundred - in simple terms unplug the wires (remembering how those with the tremendous white connectors flow), unscrew 4 screws, throw it out, placed the hot one in and connect the wires. those to the disk drives can flow everywhere - they are all a similar. the single with the 4 wires can in person-friendly words flow to at least one position. it really is the tremendous one (or ones - often times that one is equipped in 2 products) that you may shop in mind and replace properly. in case you've under no circumstances opened a workstation formerly, replacing the flexibility furnish could take you about 10 minutes. (in simple terms have someone carry it once you're taking the screws out or it will fall. those 4 screws on the again of the workstation are all it truly is protecting it in.)

You probably screwed it up big time! I would imagine the hard drive is trashed and the power supply too now! Your problems may be even deeper than that now!

uh oh! that happened when i was cleaning out my pc! you were supposed to umplug it.

well buddy, u just lost all of your files.

you will need to re-install your Windows XP, or the craptacular Windows Vista from the CD

and like i said, it happened to me also, so i know what needs to be done. don't worry, your motherboard and power supply shouldn't be damaged at all. if you can still turn on ur pc, then your good. just make sure you have your Windows install CD
