Staphylococcus aureus.... or 'staph'

Staphococcus is a bacteria that grows normally all over skin... although sometimes.. wounds etc... will get infected with this same bacteria.. .. normally this can be treated with antibiotics... sometimes//// Well there are strands of this same bacteria.. that are resistance to antibiotics.. this can be very bad.. such as MRSA infections.../// They just wanna debrid or take out the bad stuff and excess bacteria that is preventing new cells from growing and it healing .. after the surgery now it should heal faster... you shouldnt worry.. but spider bites are nasty and notorious for Staph infections.. good luck.. sounds like you have great family support and a lot help...;-)

What Is a Staph Infection?
Staph is the shortened name for Staphylococcus (pronounced: staf-uh-low-kah-kus), a type of bacteria. These bacteria can live harmlessly on many skin surfaces, especially around the nose, mouth, genitals, and anus. But when the skin is punctured or broken for any reason, staph bacteria can enter the wound and cause an infection.

it's called a staph infection, and it's caused by staphylococcus bacteria getting into an open wound and multiplying. that's why when you get cut or bitten, you should always make sure to keep the wound clean.

I think it's a "staph" infection and refers to a staphyllococcus (sp?) infection. Search "staph" on a medical site, and I'm sure there will be plenty of info.
