Earth. An ever-changing mixture of disaster and beauty never ceasing to amaze us. It is what you make it and you have to make the best of what it brings you- rain, sunshine, sleet, etc.

The answer is water.

Water transforms from ocean to clouds to rain...and back to ocean again. It is what powers literally everything on earth. It feeds plants which feed animals which feed other animals who die and decompose into nutrients in the soil to sustain more plants.

Water also observes the rule that matter can neither be created not destroyed. It is the ultimate recycleable material and is therefore the perfect metaphor for the circle of life.

Water is also responsible for what we find pleasing about nature, carving out the Grand Canyon, cliffs, beaches, etc., in addition to being the only ingredient necessary for life (out of the four elements you mentioned).

Like life, water can also turn against you, e.g., tsunamis or backyard-pool drownings. You can swallow it, but it can also swallow you. Gotta respect that.

Earth. The changing seasons - they remind me of the changing seasons in a person's life. They remind me of new birth, and the process of maturing, growing old and finally dieing. And then new life springing up all over again. Like - Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter.

Fire.

At the beginning they are exciting and bright but they eventually die out into nothing.

They both have beginnings and ends.

They can be destructive or helpful.

Fire is like the many emotions; the raging anger, the calm sadness, bright happiness.

They are fierce, they are tough, and they are cool.

They can be scary.

They can be wasted.

"Bright eyes burning with fire."
"How could a fire that burns so bright, suddenly burn so pale?"

Fifth element of old religions and Aristotle's : AETHER

Maybe it can be understood as APHEIRON of Anaximender too. Something in everything, unknown, unbounded, non-changing...e.t.c. In some beliefs it is Akasha, aetheric element, god, but I think it is logical to think it as the only god, one god like in Islam, Christianity and Judaism.

Wind.

One can easily find themselves worlds away from where they intended, hoped or planned to be. Life is best when viewed as an adventure.

Water. I cannot describe it. I can only tell you that this word is metaphor, not metephore.

Water is living, abundant, and necessary for life.
