According to the Canadian Firearms Manual, "5.1 Section 84(3) CC Weapons", airguns which discharge a projectile with a muzzle velocity of less than 152.4 metres per second ( approximately 500 feet per second ) are not considered firearms for the purposes of the Firearms Act or the Criminal Code, and therefore do not require any license, authorizations or registration certificates to purchase and possess. However, it must be pointed out that if these air guns are used in the commission of a criminal offense, they will be deemed as firearms and the user will be indicted as such.
