SARAH KARUSH | AP | March 17, 2007 WASHINGTON
Thousands of Christians prayed for peace at an anti-war service Friday night at the Washington National Cathedral, kicking off a weekend of protests around the country to mark the fourth anniversary of the war in Iraq.
Afterward, participants marched with battery-operated faux candles through snow and wind toward the White House, where police began arresting protesters shortly before midnight. Protest guidelines require demonstrators to continue moving while on the White House sidewalk.
"We gave them three warnings, and they broke the guidelines," said Lt. Scott Fear. "There's an area on the White House sidewalk where you have to keep moving."
About 100 people crossed the street from Lafayette Park _ where thousands of protesters were gathered _ to demonstrate on the White House sidewalk late Friday. Police began cuffing them and putting them on buses to be taken for processing.

sorry my query isn't clear. the question is ... do you consider these Christian anti-war protesters to be unAmerican traitors and terrorist sympathizer/enablers since for the past 4 years anyone who has protested the war on Iraq has been called terrorist sympathizers and traitors?

Thank God. They should be run over by tanks, but the government is decent and just arrested them. Those menaces are out of control. You are not telling the whole story.

What you should fear is being ungodly, not unAmerican, especially when American means causing the death of over 400 000 Iraqis in the last three, four years alone, and imposing policies that have contributed to the death of about FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND Iraqi children in the ten years before that, and this according to UN data.
The following quote from Darlene " What makes you so sure these demonstrators were Christians? No real Christian I know would demonstrate on a protest against the war, including me." amazes me. I suggest reading the Sermon on the Mount (Mathew 5-7 if am not mistaken) at the start and at the end of the day if she sincerely cares about Jesus as her Lord, and I also suggest she change her church...there's a saying that even the devil can teach the Bible to his own end...how far from Jesus's message can one get?!!

I'm not that surprised about the arrests, even if the DC cops seem a lot more easy-going than the NYC ones, based on the protests I attended in both cities. When I was in DC, I didn't notice any tension between the cops and the demonstrators, whereas when I attended a protest in NYC way back in 2003 (before it was commonplace to be against this war), the cops sprayed tear gas, shoved people, threatened to make arrests, and in some cases had their faces concealed and no badges showing. All this despite the fact that we were peacefully demonstrating (which last I heard is still legal), as opposed to a raging mob or looters.

I'm a fundamentalist Christian, very conservative, and this war is WRONG. It is based on lies.
Iraq was no threat to us. How in the world can we be fighting for freedom in the Middle East when our freedoms are being stripped away at home? What about the Patriot Act, which violates the Fourth Amendment? How about the Military Commissions Act, which deals a blow to habeas corpus?
Why is it that people think that only liberals protest? Excuse me--some of us in this country still have sense and still believe that the Constitution is VALID!
Are people really this deluded? Bush is not even a conservative himself, much less a Christian!

So, they got arrested because they were standing on a sidewalk holding candle-shaped flashlights? And you want to call them traitors becuase you don't agree with what they were saying?
The entire point of the Constitutional freedom of expression is for people to be able to peacefully say what they believe, and to guarantee that everyone can participate in the political process by expressing their opinion.
The idea that someone can be called a traitor simply becuase those in power don't like that opinion -- that shows just how far this country has fallen from its ideals.

Amen Neddle...Washington is fulll of hypocrits, their gums glued together in lies and deceit. These people simply exercised a given right. And if they are against the war, so be it. Well, so am I, and so are countless others. People have their own opinions. Some applaud war. Others detest it. Still others are caught within the clutter of indecision.

What is your point? Those arrested were knowingly breaking the law! You can demonstrate and petition the government all you want as long as you do so peacefully without endangering others. Thanks to the attempts on President Clinton's life we now can not drive by the White house and must keep protest moving or across the street!

So what's your question?
If you are asking if I think the protesters are Unamerican and terrorist sympathizers, the answer would be no.

How can anyone protesting be "unAmerican", when America herself was founded by protesting?

What makes you so sure these demonstrators were Christians? No real Christian I know would demonstrate on a protest against the war, including me.
I thought us Christians were so far right...which includes voting Republican...
Which is it? Are we protesting the same government we actively worked for to get in the White House?
I think you are confused. It's probably liberal free spirits claiming Christianity...or a form of it but being far away from the truth.
