Hi Glimmer,

Usually a slow computer is caused by spyware.

Here is what I recommend you do. It is all free and good sensible computer care.

AntiSpyware watches for malicious cookies, spy ware and other malicious things put on your computer by websites that want to spy on you or use your system.

You should have Windows Defender. It is free from Microsoft and watches your system prevents programs from taking over your home page etc.

Go here to read about and get it - http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security...

Two other free programs you should get & run about once a week are Spybot and Adaware. They also are free and you can get them both here - http://www.download.com/

Between those three you are doing a pretty good job of protecting your system and I bet money it will be tons faster.

There can be many reasons - how long have you had your machine - if its a while it probably needs a good clear out.
If you do a lot of music or movies having a nearly full hard disk can really slow things down. Offload all the music or video that you can to a DVD.
it may be that you mean your internet connection is slower if so it may be spyware or a virus - is your protection up to date.
if not download a free spyware program like Adaware and see how many hits you get on it.

If none of these work come back with a little more detail of your machine.

You may need to defragment your hard drive. Go to start/programs/accessories/system tools/defragment.

Use a anti-virus program to scan your computer, plus can for adware and spyware.

If it is your internet you can go to tools/internet options and empty temp files, clean your history etc.

Hope this helps

Have you cut the cookies, deleted the history and defraged the system in awhile? Try it and see if the computer is then going to run faster.

Maybe you have a virus or trojan, download an anti-virus and scan for viruses. you can do an online scan from : http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/ActiveScan.htm if that doesnt work, try cleaning up your hard drives, delete any files that you dont need and any software that you dont use. go to control panel>add or remove programs...good luck
