It's put inside flat with strings attached and then when you pull the strings the ship pulls upright.

i'm not sure exacley how they do it, but the sails lay flat down on the ship, once its in the bottle they pull the sail up with a piece of cotton which is attatched to the top.

Its put in there laid flat.. they use a series of strings to pull it into the shape you see in the bottle.

sometimes they actually build it inside using special tools, or they build it out of bottle so it is collapsable, they then pull a piece of string and it stands up, clever eh♥
