Rabbits actually cost a lot more than people think. they should be fixed, and need to be cleaned atleast twice a week. They also chew on EVERYTHING.
Hamsters are cool but never really sit still in your hand. Theyre fairly cheap to own, after you buy the cage of course
rats, make awesome pets. theyre smart, clean, and very social. They also have the least amount of odor as far as caged pets go.

I live in a bachelor apartment and I own 2 rabbits (a male and a female). The initial cost of them can be expensive (ie, cage, getting them fixed, accessories and rabbit-proofing) but once you're set, its easy! You can train them to use a litterbox, and they are relatively quiet animals too! they needs daily care as they require fresh veggies, water and food. I usually let mine have the run of the place when I'm around, but if you're not willing to do that, you can buy them a lil playpen for them to exercise a bit. Most rabbits dont like being picked up, but they love being pet and can be really affectionnate once they learn to trust you.
I also own 2 gerbils, 2 females and they are really easy to take care of. Cage needs cleaning about once a week, and they are very curious and social. They have lots of energy, and enjoy the attention you give them, although they can be pretty shy at first.

A hamster is best. cute easy, just feed, refill water bottle, clean cage once a weeks with new bedding, and take out and play with once in a while (if you cant take it out much then you must buy a very very big cage for the little thing at least.

low care- gerbil
higher care- ferret
both are well caged pets, but it depends on how much time you have to sacrifice for it.
both of those are different, so make sure to do as much research as possible before deciding on whatever pet you want to get.
i have 2 gerbils, and 1 ferret, and i love them all!!

Betas are colorful and easy to care for. You can place them in novelty clear bowls and set them on your shelves. Just an idea.

I have a chinchilla. He is awesome! He doesn't smell, he has a great personality and he is inexpensive to take care of. I would really recommend one of those! Plus, they are unique!
