thumbs down, just cause you don't agree with them?
is the fact that my opinion is different from theirs make it a BAD answer???

Of course not. Peaople are "self" motivated, self serving, self absorbed, each person just thinks "they" have the only answer
that is of value. Get rid of self and we would have heaven on earth.

I thought that's what the thumbs down/ ratings were for...but I could be wrong. I only give a thumbs down if I feel that it does nothing to help answer the question at hand.

You are absolutely correct. People should be able to express their own opinion without being criticized. I don't even understand why Y! Answers made that an option, because people may see things differently than the average person.
If it's a good, proper answer that isn't breaking any of the rules, people should just leave it alone! They don't need to rate every single answer!

I don't give thumbs down.That isn't the way that it should be, but sometimes it seems to be that way. I have made 4 reports in the 9 months I have been here, and It wasn't another person's opinion, I reported them for.

Oh come on grow up, Yes of course that's why yahoo answers put this there for us to use. It's all for fun that's all.
I get thumbs down a lot of times I don't cry about it.
I'll probably get some for this answer no big deal.

I don't give thumbs down b/c I don't agree. I do it when the answer is counterproductive or mean.

EXACTLY its like if your gonna ask the question and you KNOW people are gonna disagree then leave it alone this one chick asked if we think its ok to hit our children and i said no and immedietly she gave me thumbs down so i was all WELL OBVIOUSLY U THINK ITS FINE
